Fall is filled with fun events – pumpkin patch outings, backyard bonfires, fall festivals, casual weddings, or even just a cozy dinner with friends. But when the invite says “dress for the season,” it doesn’t always mean you need a formal gown or fancy cocktail dress. In fact, most fall events lean more casual, which makes styling both easier and more budget-friendly. Check out below my favorite Fall Dresses Guide!
Fall Dresses Guide
Midi Dresses With Boots
A midi dress paired with boots is one of the easiest ways to look effortlessly chic for fall. This combo works perfectly for casual weddings, family photos, or seasonal events like a harvest festival or wine tasting. The longer length of a midi dress keeps you comfortable on breezy autumn days, while boots add just the right touch of seasonal style.
Halter Maxi Dress
Throwback to when I was pregnant with Jack! I wore this dress to an event and loved it. It would be perfect for a wedding, bridal shower, baby shower, etc. Available in a wide range of colors! Bonus that it can be bump-friendly.
Sweater Dress
A sweater dress is the ultimate casual fall event piece. It’s cozy, effortless, and can be dressed up or down. Pair it with ankle boots for a daytime event or add a belt and tall boots for a more elevated look.
The Classic Little Black Dress
A black dress is one of the most versatile pieces you can own for fall events. Even if it’s a simpler, more casual style, it can easily be dressed up or down depending on where you’re headed. Pair it with ankle boots and a denim jacket for a laid-back gathering, or add a blazer and heeled boots for something slightly more elevated like a work dinner or evening out. A black dress is especially great when you’re unsure of the dress code.
Midi Dress
A midi dress feels a bit more polished but still casual enough for most fall gatherings. Choose earthy tones or fall prints like florals or plaids. Add ankle or knee-high boots for a chic seasonal touch. This would be perfect for family photos, church, Thanksgiving, etc.
Mini Dress
Usually when I think of fall I don’t think of mini dresses, but this one is still perfect for the season! I wore it to LTKCon last year in Texas and loved it, especially styled with boots. Perfect for any summer casual events or a fun country concert!
Versatile Maxi Dress
Maxi dresses don’t have to feel “too dressy” – in fact, they’re perfect for casual events when styled with a cardigan, jean jacket, or even a pair of sneakers. Stick to neutral or muted tones for an autumn vibe. Snag this one for an outfit to wear to the pumpkin patch, out to dinner with friends or to your kiddos school event.
